Are You a BlogHer Swag Hag?

oil-of-olay-body-wash1- Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock that has no Internet connection, you probably heard that you will be getting a lot of swag from BlogHer ’12, right?

SWAG stands for “Stuff We All Get.” At most conferences, you get pens and papers, cell phone covers and the like.

But at BlogHer? You get toys, product, makeup, jeans, shoes, deodorant. Some people get beds. Some people get bed bugs.

You knew that about NYC, right? The bed bugs? You’ve been warned….

So back to swag.

BlogHer swag is like the Cadillac of swag. The first year I went to BlogHer, I didn’t believe it when people said I would need an extra bag to bring everything home. But by the first day in the expo hall it was clear I needed a bag.

No, I needed an extra piece of luggage to carry all of my stuff home.

This year, I am being smart. I am more interested in connecting with brands than getting their swag. And if I do get too much swag to bring home? I’m thinking a UPS luggage box might be the ticket I need to travel in style.

Are you looking forward to BlogHer swag?

  1. I gave most of my swag to other bloggers who coveted it. Except for the combo bottle opener/corkscrew another blogger gave me. I have priorities.

  1. [...] It can be easy to get wrapped up in all the swag gathering, but as Jen from Little Miss Mocha reminds us, there is so much more to attending a conference than just the “free stuff.”  The connections with your fellow bloggers and the information you have the opportunity to intake is worth so much more than any amount of product you’ll be able to fly home. Along those same lines, let’s talk about the people who take swag to an extreme – the very aptly named, swag hag. Are you one?  How do you know?  The ladies from Girls’ Lunch Out remind us that no one likes a swag hag.  [...]
